Care Homes Guidelines - Kerala, 2016

Kerala Government states, “Every Pay Home may accommodate poor and destitute eligible persons not less than 10% of its sanctioned strength on an absolutely free basis”. Is this right and fair on private sector organisations?

Setting-up and running Senior Citizens Care Homes (Old Age Home) is a complicated venture especially since each State Government has to formulate their own standards and guidelines.

Kerala is one of the few progressive States who have been working for the benefit of Older People and have developed various manuals and guidelines to facilitate the management and running of Old Age Homes (Care Homes).

In the attached document G O. (P) No. 10/2016/SJD, the State Government hereby issues the following Guidelines for running Homes for Senior Citizens and the protection of life and property of senior citizens housed in various senior citizen homes in the State of Kerala.
