Purpose and Open Access
Although this was initially an internal document of Elderly Care India, we believe that keeping such knowledge closed would not serve the larger purpose. The true value of this work lies in helping those at the grassroots level—especially poor, underprivileged, and destitute older adults who depend on caregivers for support and dignity.
Many caregiving staff in India are not fluent in English. Some cannot read or write in English at all. For meaningful training and implementation, it is crucial that they learn in a language they understand.
To address this, Elderly Care India is translating and sharing internal documents in vernacular languages, starting with Hindi. The detailed version of the Home Care Assessment Rating Scale and Guidance Checklist is now available in both English and Hindi, ensuring that caregivers across India can access and use this framework effectively.
By releasing this Rating Scale as an open-source self-assessment framework, we hope to encourage continuous improvement among Home Care service providers and to promote better care outcomes for older adults everywhere.
